Boy Howdy, as Buffalo Bob would say.
Since the news was announced Wednesday that Joe Staton
and I got the contract to produce Dick Tracy,
the phone hasn't stopped ringing, and the emails haven't
stopped coming in.
For Joe and me it was a kick to be interviewed by
the newspaper we both started reading it in.
Most of the press hasn't mentioned that we're also
bringing along two talents familiar to many of you from
Shanda Fantasy Arts comics.
Shelley Pleger inks and letters Dick Tracy.
I really don't think I need to introduce her work to
anyone reading this, but if you're unfamiliar, take
a look at her long-lasting Cats Don't Dance site.
Shane Fisher will be coloring the Sunday strips.
He's been Art Director on the SFA comics for over ten
years now and is a talented artist in his own right.
You'll also recall that we said we would be ending
our comics line.
This new job means I have money to print those
comics with since Diamond doesn't carry Independents
anymore.
All this being said, I have been busy with this deal
for two months, ironing out all the details.
It'll be interesting working for someone else again,
and on a famous character. That hasn't happened since
I started in comics with Richie Rich long ago.
Carole and I are very happy with the news.
